Peter's Biography
Peter David Jones began painting in the comfort of his own home. He is completely self taught as it is the love of using the brush that has kept his enthusiasm for the art. Peter has experimented with various mediums beginning with oils, however settled to use acrylics in order to gain far more intricate detail. The techniques he uses are entirely of his own investigating and allow his style to maintain it's fresh and life-like appeal.
The subjects of his work have predominately been wildlife, ranging from the furry neighbours in his back garden; to the inhabitants of the local forest; to the great five in South Africa.
Peter's most loved animal is the African Elephant due to it's gentle, yet powerful nature. This continues to be his favoured subject, although his first hand experience of the African plains constantly fuel his desire to paint all animals he has encountered. This access to the genuine habitat of these animals has proven invaluable, as well as improving a deeper understanding and knowledge of the subjects.
Peter has been to Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Kenya and the infamous Masaai Mara where he obtained film footage and many photographic stills to accommodate the passion of painting these beautiful and natural wonders on our Earth. This time consuming investigation is indicative of his dedication and love for his work.
